feel happier
Meditation leads to increased happiness and inner contentment by allowing the mind to settle beyond thought and experience the quiet, blissful state at the source of consciousness. In this state, the nervous system deeply relaxes, stress and anxiety dissolve, and the mind becomes infused with a natural sense of peace and joy. Over time, as this experience is repeated through regular practice, happiness becomes less dependent on external circumstances. Instead of relying on achievements, possessions, or approval to feel fulfilled, we begin to access a stable inner reservoir of contentment that is always present beneath the surface of activity.
This shift marks the transition from object-referral happiness to subject-referral happiness - from seeking satisfaction in the material world to realising that happiness is our own innate nature. Through meditation, we discover that true fulfilment arises from within, not from anything outside ourselves. This self-sufficient joy brings freedom from the constant cycle of desire and disappointment that often characterises modern life. As inner happiness becomes our baseline experience, we engage with the world more lightly and lovingly, enjoying relationships, work, and life’s pleasures without being dependent on them for our sense of wellbeing.
